One thing that none of us are able to avoid (unless we live in the city, or the woods) is filling up your car with gas. Instead of paying full price, or buying a membership to get the discount gas, or even trying to rack up points at a grocery store before they expire, wouldn't you want to always get 10 cents off per gallon?
With Cumberland Farms' Smartpay that's exactly what you get. 10 cents off per gallon. Every time. I have been a member of their Smartpay program since February of 2014, and have saved just over $73 (and since February 2014, I only filled up once at a location other than a CF when on a road trip where there were none to be found).
So how do you do it? First, you need a bank account that can link to the card and/or mobile app. Although some people may be weary of this, Dunkin' Donuts has followed in their footsteps with their fairly new membership card, and it's looking like direct payment is becoming a new normal. It has helped me in a pinch when I didn't have my credit card or cash on hand, and the red "E" that doesn't stand for elephant, but empty, was shining in my face.
A special perk with the mobile app is getting free stuff. I've gotten free Powerade, trail mix, chips, water, Chillzones, and power bars just to name a few. And by free I mean free - no "buy this, get this for free" (although they do have great deals on that too, but I'm never tempted).
I just filled my tank up at $1.99 per gallon, and can now redeem my reward, and have a lengthly time before it expires.
As a happy and loyal customer, I can't help but want everyone to know the great rewards of being a Smartpay member.
