Earth Day, a full moon, possible thunderstorms, what more can I ask for? This time of year is so special to me, mainly because the beauty of nature starts popping up all over the place. I like to do my part and recycle, but one big item that I always try to do is reuse. I save money on bottled water (don't buy it), tupperware, and other storage items by reusing them and making their intended lifespan a little longer (just like how our lifespans have stretched over the centuries). Instead of...
...buying bottled water I use a Brita pitcher and fill empty, clean, Snapple bottles with them. then I have a cover and easy transportation of water to my nightstand!
...purchasing tupperware I use the containers like Earth Balance, Chinese takeout, and any other plasticware I get for free (with a product) to store leftovers.
...ordering a nightstand I used a spool from the FSU Fashion Department and painted it! See the before and after to the right
...putting money down on a couch, my roommate/MOH/best friend and I found one on the street in great condition and carried it to our apartment!
There are items all over the place looking for a home, whether it is a bi-product of using the goods inside the container or because a person in the neighborhood was done with a couch, there is always something to salvage and reuse.
So, please reduce, reuse, and recycle, especially on Earth Day – it helps the planet (and your wallet).
